Lech<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"IT\">Alois Wolfm\u00fcller insieme con alcuni amici inventa la prima motocicletta di serie, realizzata all\u2019interno di una fabbrica di macchinari nel cuore di Landsberg am Lech. L\u2019invenzione \u00e8 registrata all\u2019ufficio brevetti con il nome di \u201cMotorrad\u201d. Ne saranno prodotte in totale 120 \u201cHildebrand&amp;Wolfm\u00fcller\u201d, otto delle quali sono ancora oggi esistenti. Fredrick Kleemann \u00e8 un imprenditore di successo nel settore dei barattoli di marmellata quando nel 1918 diventa il principale azionista della Columbus Motorenbau GmbH di Oberusel (Turingia).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Qui si produceva il motore ausiliare \u201cGnom\u201d quando Fritz, il figlio di Fredrick, decide di installarlo davanti al movimento centrale delle biciclette. HOREX nasce, infatti, dalla combinazione tra Bad HOmburg, citt\u00e0 natale dei Kleemann e REX, il nome dell\u2019azienda di famiglia produttrice di barattoli. Nasce cos\u00ec la \u201cHOREX-Columbus\u201d, denominazione che resiste fino al 1953 e che qualche volta appare per intero anche su alcuni modelli. Nel 1932 costruisce un bicilindrico parallelo con tre alberi a camme in testa che stupisce, soprattutto nelle competizioni. Con questo motore, Karl Braun vince il campionato tedesco di sidecar del 1935 nella categoria fino a 1000cc. Con quest\u2019architettura vengono realizzate le versioni S6 e S8, rispettivamente da 600cc e 800cc, quest\u2019ultima prodotta in appena 200 unit\u00e0, poche delle quali sopravvissute. Nel 1951 vinse il campionato tedesco delle corse in salita e quello di fuoristrada con la 350cc. L\u2019anno successivo Sch\u00f6n viene assunto come collaudatore per sviluppare la nuova 500 Imperator. La \u201cImperator\u201d si distingue anche per la presenza, per la prima volta, di un telaio con forcellone oscillante di serie. HOREX capisce che la forte ripresa economica del dopoguerra incrementer\u00e0 sempre di pi\u00f9 la popolarit\u00e0 dell\u2019automobile a discapito della motocicletta. Come se non bastasse, anche il premio dell\u2019assicurazione per le moto con oltre 200cc \u00e8 aumentato considerevolmente. Per queste ragioni, nel 1956 HOREX cessa di produrre moto e non ha un piano per produrre auto.
